James Flynn focuses his practice on defending insurance companies, self-insured corporations, and businesses in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including first-party auto No-Fault (PIP), third-party auto negligence, insurance coverage disputes, Michigan Assigned Claims Plan (MACP) servicing insurer defense, and MACP servicing insurer subrogation. He handles all phases of litigation, from pre-suit SIU investigations and case strategy through discovery, motion practice, alternative dispute resolution, and trial. He has significant experience managing high-volume caseloads, preparing matters for trial, and mentoring associates and other legal professionals.

Known for his thorough preparation and disciplined approach to litigation, James routinely secures dismissals involving fraudulently claimed benefits, staged accidents, experimental treatments, and other unsubstantiated claims. Through careful case development and strategic motion practice, he obtains dismissals of claims totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.

Based in Grand Rapids, James is part of MBL’s presence in West Michigan. In addition to serving local clients, he regularly represents clients throughout the metro Detroit area and northern Michigan. His west side base positions James – and MBL – to serve clients efficiently throughout the entire state.
