Congratulations to MBL Associate Ardijana Ivezaj on securing the dismissal of three separate lawsuits in Wayne and Macomb Counties over the course of a single month, eliminating more than $150,000 in potential exposure for an MBL insurance client.

In each matter, the respective plaintiffs continuously missed the Michigan Court Rules deadlines for initial disclosures, which mandate a complete itemization of damages sought. They also refused to participate in depositions and independent medical examinations. Ardijana filed motions to compel that resulted in court orders, then filed motions to dismiss when those orders were still disobeyed.

While most judges attempt to avoid dismissals as a discovery sanction, Ardijana kept up the effort and maintained a detailed record. She continued to file the necessary motions to enforce the rules. Ultimately, these motions were successful. Three different judges agreed that dismissal was warranted.

Ardijana’s efforts show that the Michigan Court Rules still do matter, and a lawyer’s mastery of their intricacies can lead to effective results when parties fail to follow the rules of the game. Excellent work, Ardijana, on delivering meaningful results.
