Stoyna S. Novakova
Associate
Stoyna Novakova focuses her practice on the defense of insurance companies, self-insured corporations, and businesses in a wide range of civil litigation matters. Her work includes first-party auto No-Fault (PIP) claims, third-party auto negligence actions, insurance coverage disputes, and the representation of insurers involved with the Michigan Assigned Claims Plan (MACP), including both Servicing Insurer Defense and Servicing Insurer Subrogation.
Before joining MBL, Stoyna gained valuable legal experience at a major gas company where she conducted regulatory research involving the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and OSHA. In that role, she ensured internal policies, procedures, and operational guidelines aligned with complex federal and state compliance requirements—experience that strengthened her ability to analyze technical subject matter and navigate regulatory frameworks relevant to today’s litigation landscape.
She brings a strong scientific background to her legal practice. She previously served as a Research Lab Manager in the Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology and contributed to multiple large-scale research projects. Her work includes co-authorship on several peer-reviewed publications and a U.S. patent application related to tissue-engineered tendon constructs. She also volunteered as a field researcher with the University of Michigan Biological Station.
Her multidisciplinary experience enhances her ability to understand complex medical, scientific, and technical issues frequently encountered in insurance and injury-related litigation.
