Payton Wells represents insurance companies, self-insured corporations, and businesses in a variety of civil litigation matters. She works on insurance coverage, fraud-related investigations, and complex litigation, assisting clients through all stages of the litigation process.

Before joining MBL as an attorney, Payton gained valuable experience with the firm as a law clerk, where she worked alongside seasoned litigators on insurance defense and fraud matters. This experience provided her with a strong foundation in case analysis, legal research, discovery, motion practice, and litigation strategy.

In addition to her insurance defense experience, Payton has a background in AI policy initiatives, transactional law, student speech, First Amendment law, intellectual property, and constitutional rights. Her diverse legal experience and strong research and writing skills allow her to approach complex legal issues with creativity, precision, and thoughtful analysis.

Before entering the legal profession, Payton worked as a journalist in the Metro Detroit area, where she covered politics, local government, and community events. She also gained experience in strategic communications and social media management, supporting public engagement initiatives for the city of Detroit, the Governor of Michigan, and members of the Michigan Legislature. Her background in journalism and public communications strengthens her ability to analyze complex issues, communicate effectively, and develop persuasive legal arguments on behalf of clients.
